Hiya,
I'm a sped teacher in TN, just finished up my first year, and I wanted to say that I'm proud of you for wanting to go back to school and improve your situation while becoming something that will help the community around you as well.... however.... I have a few comments...
1. As much as you say that you love social studies and history and everyone deserves a good history teacher (god knows I had the sports masters as well...) that's not where the greatest need is.... there are some schools that you can go for almost free and at an accelerated rate to become a teacher in an area that is difficult to fill... IE special needs, math, science, foreign languages... and you are much more likely to get a job soon after you graduate.
2. While I would love to have gotten to study abroad and have the whole she-bang... I was unable due to my bank account... I had to work full-time and fill out grant papers and take extra classes for them and work in sweaty factories 10-12 hours a day 5 days a week to afford my own college.... I would find it very difficult to donate to someone to give them more than any "normal joe" would have... maybe you should shoot for tuition and hope for book money... I would really love to donate, but want to make positively sure that you are working your butt off on your end first, and I'm not just talking about grades, I graduated with a 3.79, but I'm sure I could have had a higher GPA if it wasn't for no sleep on the weekends because of work and not having enough money to buy all my books that I needed to study for my classes.
So, the short of it... I will bookmark the website and check on you again to see what you have done for yourself come fall semester... if you are working hard, not only will I donate, but I will also start a donation bank at my school to help you out as well.
Good luck Matt

I will defintely donate. Growing up I had an awesome history teacher that really ignited my interest in American History. I am over 50 years old, but I can still remember my old teacher Mrs. Conwoop like it was yesterday. I hope everyone sends a dollar or 2 to help you out. I was never able to make my dreams come true, so I like the fact I can help you with yours.
